Study to show thyself approved a workman that need not be ashamed II Timothy 2:15
Sacred Heart of Jesus Theological Seminary is a progressive higher education community tailored to the needs of those preparing for service in faith communities around the world. Sacred Heart is an independent educational institution and utilises the best in traditional and contemporary education models to provide the widest possible access to quality academic and practical education. Sacred Heart provides ministry development and training to dioceses, parishes, missionary districts and other organisations, and is open to students in the independent Catholic community. "The Seminary's immediate goal is to train Seminarians to become priests" And resources permitting we also provide training for lay-persons who wish to gain a deeper understanding of their faith and to enhance their contribution to the work of the Church. The learning programs used by Sacred Heart are designed for the use of Ordinands or Incardinand's who need to fill gaps in their study. The Seminary provides guided on-line distance learning study programmes through e-correspondence; while practical training is delivered at our Campus in Kimbolton New Zealand were Seminarians are taught how to administer the full seven sacraments along with basic counselling skills and principles of church growth. Each of the churches served by this seminary has a Canon professor who administers and monitors our candidates in the programme. Each student is assigned a mentor: a priest who will guide, encourage and support them with their study. Being on-line, this study can be done at any time, or in any amount, allowing for complete flexibility. Credits for existing work or experience can be given leading to exemptions where relevant for certain candidates. Seminarians on completion of each course are awarded a Degree, Doctorate, Diploma or Certificate in Sacred Theology. Currently we have Seminarians studying in almost every continent.
Due to the COVIN 19 Pandemic classroom based programs at Kimbolton are now restricted to New Zealand citizens only. Courses will be offered online and lectures by video conferencing.
