We profess that the separation of Church and State is good for both. In the area of Religious Education and training, we profess that no government institution can effectively determine if the institution is meeting the mandates of the Scripture and Religious Tradition.

Thus, non-believers cannot be expected to think, or to act, like believers nor be able to judge the quality or content of their devotional learning. Secularism rejects anything that comes from the Holy Spirit. Those who depend solely on human senses and reason will never be able to comprehend the spiritual truths of God's revelation about sin, salvation and Christ.

How We Maintain Academic Standards
We maintain high academic standards by applying assessment criteria derived from those used in the public higher education systems; in the European Higher Education Area and the USA. We are a private institution and our sole purpose is to prepare students for religious vocations as ministers, professionals, active lay-people or contemplative worshippers in the Catholic tradition.

Sacred Heart is a recognised higher education institutional member of the Liberal Catholic Alliance and as such is an approved centre for the teaching of Liberal Catholic Theology and liturgical practice and for the study of the history of the Independent Sacramental Movement (ISM).
Sacred Heart is a foundational member of the Franciscan Union. An International Ecumenical organisation made up of Independent Franciscan Congregations.
The Seminary delivers courses on behalf of members of the Union and to other religious serving in other Franciscan congregations worldwide specialising in the area of Franciscan spirituality.

Sacred Heart is a foundational member of the Independent Old Catholic Churches Council a grouping of faith Communities dedicated to the upholding the light of Catholic tradition. Member Churches each ascribe to the Spirit of the Bonn Agreement (Religion) while not directly written for Churches of the Independent Sacramental Movement, it expresses our desire to work together as One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Our Legal Status
Degrees are awarded by the Christian Bible Institute and Seminary (CBIS) which is a state authorised (rather than regionally-accredited) theological institution. What is generally known as an “exempt institution” through the US State of Florida’s Department of Education’s Commission for Independent Education, (850) 245-3200, under Florida Statute 1005.06(1)(f). The Master of Sacred Theology; the Master of Sacred Music and the Doctorate of Sacred Theology Degree, is issued in accordance with the Laws of the State of Florida.
